Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,  is an upcoming American television series created for ABC by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division). The series is produced by Marvel Television, and is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing continuity with the films in that franchise. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D revolves around the character of Phil Coulson, with Clark Gregg reprising the role. A pilot, written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, and directed by Joss Whedon, was given the green light in late 2012 and filmed in early 2013. The series was officially ordered on May 10, 2013 and is scheduled to premiere on September 24, 2013 on ABC Channel.

Agent Phil Coulson puts together a small team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to handle strange new cases.  Each case will test the team in cooperation and ingenuity as they try to work together figuring out newly emerging superhuman individuals in the world.

At the 2013 South by Southwest festival, Joss Whedon confirmed that Coulson is alive in the series, despite his apparent death at the hands of Loki in Marvel’s The Avengers. When describing his character’s return from the dead, Gregg said, “When Joss described to me the mystery…and the complexity and the unanswered questions about Phil Coulson standing there trying to deal with this, I found it so fascinating and so true to the world of the comics and mythology in general as I understand them that I was immediately in.”

  • AgentsOfShield (2) Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson: An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who oversees many of the division’s field operations. The character will headline the series.
  • AgentsOfShield (7) Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May: An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who is an ace pilot and weapons expert. The character was originally listed with the name Agent Althea Rice (a.k.a. The Cavalry) on casting sheets.
  • AgentsOfShield (9) Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward: An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who is a black ops specialist. He is a gruff, asocial manly man in his early 30s who is great at his job but not so great at getting along with his coworkers. Ward has a strong moral foundation and is not without his charm.
  • AgentsOfShield (5) Chloe Bennet as Skye: A civilian new recruit and computer hacker, described as “bubbly and goofy” but “also warm, edgy and witty.” She is in her late 20s and can more than hold her own in any situation. Skye is obsessed with superheroes.
  • AgentsOfShield (10) Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz: An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in weapons technology.
  • AgentsOfShield (8) Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons: An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in life sciences (both human and alien) and is the close partner of Agent Leo Fitz.

  • Cobie Smulders reprises her role as Maria Hill in the pilot after her appearance in The Avengers. Joss Whedon stated: “I wanted very much to have Cobie in the pilot because as much as anyone else, she IS S.H.I.E.L.D. She’s cool and commanding, and has the dry humor that plays so well with Clark’s.”
  • Ron Glass an alum of Firefly and Serenity also appears in the series.
  • David Conrad has been cast in an unnamed, recurring role.
  • J. August Richards was cast in an unspecified role in the pilot.

One year after the events of The AvengersThor battles to save the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. A primeval race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Thor Thor 1

Chris Hemsworth as Thor: The crown prince of Asgard, based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name. Hemsworth stated that the film addresses unresolved issues regarding Thor’s relationships from previous films, “For Thor and Jane, there are some unanswered questions now, since obviously he didn’t stop in and catch up with her in The Avengers. Thor might have some explaining to do in this one. And with Loki, we get down to the major bones of our conflict with everything that’s come from Thor to Avengers to now.”

Thor Jane 2

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster: An astrophysicist and Thor’s love interest, who is brought from Earth to Asgard by Thor for safeguarding when her life is in danger. Producer Kevin Feige said, “While Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films (Thor and The Avengers), this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard.”

Thor Loki 3

Tom Hiddleston as Loki: Thor’s adoptive brother and nemesis, based on the deity of the same name, who Thor seeks for assistance against the Dark Elves. On where he wishes to take the character in the film, Hiddleston said, “I’d like to take [Loki] to his absolute rock bottom. I’d like to see him yield, essentially, to his darkest instincts. Then, having hit rock bottom, maybe come back up. I think the fascination for me about playing Loki is that, in the history of the mythology and the comic books and the Scandinavian myths, is he’s constantly dancing on this fault line of the dark side and redemption.”

Thor Erik 4

Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Erik Selvig: Foster’s mentor and fellow scientist.

Thor Heimdall 5

Idris Elba as Heimdall: The all-seeing, all-hearing Asgardian sentry of the bifröst bridge, based on the mythological deity of the same name. Elba said he has a larger role in the sequel, “In the new film we’re going to get to know Heimdall the Asgardian a bit better, and we’re going to get to know Asgard a bit better. I can’t say too much, but the expansion of Thor in his world is going to be huge. My part was very small and functional in the first film”.

Thor Malekith 6

Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed: The ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.

Thor Algrim Kurse 7

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Algrim the Strong / Kurse: A Dark Elf, who is coerced by Malekith to fight Thor. Akinnuoye-Agbaje described Kurse as “an amalgamation of a bull and a lava-like creature. He has very animalistic tendencies but with this insatiable and unstoppable power. As an actor, that’s one of the hardest things to embody. You have to realize you are probably the most powerful thing you could imagine. And you have to be that. You can’t pretend, so that when you face Thor, it’s real.” Akinnuoye-Agbaje stated the role required three hours of make-up a day and had to put on heavy duty prosthetics explaining, “The outfit weighed about 40 pounds. I’m sure there will be a certain amount of CGI but a good 80% was me in that suit.”

Thor Darcy 8

Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis: Foster’s research assistant. Her role in the film was expanded from the comic relief sidekick role she played in the first Thor film.

Thor Volstagg 9

Ray Stevenson as Volstagg: A member of the Warriors Three; a group of three Asgardian adventurers who are among Thor’s closest comrades. Known for both his hearty appetite and wide girth his role in this film, Stevenson said, “Volstagg is struggling, he has a brood, they [the Warriors Three] are fighting for Earth and home as much as for the idea of Asgard itself. That’s where he has trouble explaining, “He’s all too aware of how potentially threatening this new enemy is on both the home front and the battlefield.”

Thor Fandral 10

Zachary Levi as Fandral: A member of the Warriors Three, characterized as an irrepressible swashbuckler and romantic. Levi replaced Joshua Dallas in the role due to his commitment on Once Upon a Time. Ironically, Levi was originally up for the role in the first film but had to bow out due to his commitment on Chuck. Levi compared the character to Flynn Rider, the character he played in the animated feature, Tangled, “Fandral is a little similar to Rider in some ways… He’s like this lothario. He’s like Errol Flynn. He loves ladies, as do I”.

Thor Hogun 11

Tadanobu Asano as Hogun: A member of the Warriors Three, primarily identified by his grim demeanor.

Thor Sif 12

Jaimie Alexander as Sif: An Asgardian warrior, Thor’s childhood friend and Jane Foster’s romantic rival, based on the deity of the same name. Alexander said there is more character development for Sif and the film explores the Sif-Thor relationship. Alexander suffered a severe back injury while on the set. About the injury, she said, “It was raining, it was dark outside, it was like 5 in the morning — and I went down a metal staircase and slipped and slipped a disc in my thoracic spine and chipped 11 of my vertebrae. I knocked my left shoulder out of place and tore my rhomboid on my right side… It took me out of filming for a month”.

Thor Frigga 13

Rene Russo as Frigga: The wife of Odin, queen of Asgard, stepmother of Thor and adoptive mother of Loki, based on the mythological deity of the same name. Russo said that her role was expanded and explores Frigga’s relationship with Loki, “You know, they cut me down in the first film. Kenneth Branagh sent me a nice note, because he understood, he’s an actor. You move on, what are you going to do? But I think they’re going to need a good mom in the next film. Loki needs his mom. I have a lot of compassion for Loki. But we might have to have a conversation about what he just did”.

Thor Odin 14

Anthony Hopkins as Odin: The king of Asgard, father of Thor, and adoptive father of Loki, based on the deity of the same name, who disapproves of Thor’s relationship with Jane Foster.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is an upcoming 2013 American fantasy-adventure film based on the Rick Riordan novel of the same name. It is a sequel to the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and continues the adventures of Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) and his friends, as they search for the Golden Fleece at the titular Sea of Monsters to save an ailing magical tree that protects their home from foes. The film is scheduled to be released on August 7, 2013. Available in 2D and 3D in all cinemas and cineplexes.

Percy Jackson is having nightmares about a cyclops chasing Grover Underwood. At school, a group of Laistrygonian giants attack Percy, but he is saved by his half-brother Tyson (a cyclops disguised as a human). Annabeth Chase takes Percy and Tyson to Camp Half-Blood, but they arrive to find the camp under attack by two bronze Colchis bulls. Thalia’s tree (which protects the borders of Camp Half-Blood) has been poisoned, leaving the camp vulnerable to enemy attacks. After Clarisse la Rue and Tyson defeat the bulls, Chiron the centaur is suspected of poisoning the tree (largely because of his familial connection to the titan Kronos) and is fired from the camp. The demigod Tantalus is brought from his prison in Tartarus to be Chiron’s replacement.

Percy has another dream about Grover. This time, Grover explains a cyclops named Polyphemus is holding him captive in the “Sea of Monsters”, and he is talking to Percy through an empathy link, allowing them to communicate through dreams. When he awakens, Percy tells Annabeth about his dreams, and she deduces Grover may have found the Golden Fleece, which can cure Thalia’s poisoned tree. They ask Tantalus to send someone on a quest to find the Golden Fleece, and he sends Clarisse. Percy goes to a nearby beach to clear his head, and he is approached by the messenger god Hermes, who urges him to search for the fleece as well. He summons Annabeth and Tyson to aid Percy on his quest, and gives them a thermos full of wind and three duffel bags containing clothes, money and vitamins, while Percy’s father Poseidon sends three hippocampi (a marine creature which is equine in appearance) to take them across the sea.

From Wikipedia:

From this Ender’s Game (1985) Book to this Ender’s Game (2013) Movie, it took a long 28  years to have this fully materialized. From a military science fiction novel by American author Orson Scott Card, it is set in Earth’s future.

The novel presents an imperilled mankind that has barely survived two conflicts with the Formics or “Buggers”, an insectoid alien species. In preparation for an anticipated third invasion, an international fleet maintains a school to find and train future fleet commanders.

The world’s most talented children, including the novel’s protagonist, Ender Wiggin, are taken at a very young age to a training center known as the Battle School. There, teachers train them in the arts of war through increasingly difficult games including ones undertaken in zero gravity in the Battle Room, where Ender’s tactical genius is revealed.

A film adaptation of the same name directed by Gavin Hood and starring Asa Butterfield as Ender with talented Academy Award winners including Hailee Steinfeld and Ben Kingsley and nominees Harrison Ford, Viola Davis and Abigail Breslin is going to be shown on November 1, 2013. Card is co-producing the film.

Synopsis snippet:
Sometime in the near future, humanity began to explore the solar system and master interplanetary spaceflight. In doing so, they encountered an alien race known as the Formics, derogatorily dubbed “buggers” due to their insect-like appearance, scouting the system and establishing a forward base in the asteroid Eros. The Formics attacked the humans and the two races entered into two drawn-out wars. Despite political conflict on Earth between three ruling parties, the Hegemon, Polemarch, and Strategos, a peace was established and an International Fleet (IF) formed to combat the Formics. In preparation for the Formics’ inevitable return (dubbed the “third invasion”) the IF created the Battle School, a program designed to find children of the best and brightest tactical minds and to subject them to rigorous training so as to defeat the Formic threat once and for all.

From wikipedia:

Seventh Son is an upcoming fantasy film based on the first installment in Joseph Delaney’s children’s dark fantasy novel series The Wardstone Chronicles, known in the US as The Last Apprentice, titled The Spook’s Apprentice. The story centres around 14-year-old Tom Ward, a seventh son of a seventh son, and his adventures as the apprentice of the Spook. It is directed by Sergei Bodrov and stars Ben Barnes, Jeff Bridges, Kit Harington, and Julianne Moore.

In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more. John Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a Spook, a person who fights against the Dark, who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarnation, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands in her way: John Gregory.

In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. Now he has only until the next full moon to do what usually takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to fight a dark magic unlike any other. Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.

The story is only vaguely inspired by the books as most of the characters, settings and general storyline have been edited and retain very few similarities with their novel counterparts.

After winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) returns home to District 12 along with fellow winner Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Shortly after returning home, they must embark on a “Victory Tour” of the districts, leaving behind their close friends and family again. On the day of the Victory Tour, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) threatens Katniss’ best friend and pretend cousin, Gale Hawthorne. During the tour, Katniss senses that a rebellion is brewing in the districts, but the Capitol is still firmly in control as Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, known as a Quarter Quell, an event taken place every 25 years – a competition that could change Panem forever. In this Hunger Games, the tributes will be reaped from the existing pool of victors, making all the other Games look like child’s play. As Peeta and Katniss end up in the arena again (as the only victors of District 12 with the exception of Haymitch), this time surrounded by experienced and vicious killers, President Snow is determined to eliminate them and destroy the rays of hope and the sparks of rebellions brewing up in the Districts.

Well this movie I hope won’t disappoint… I know that there’s a lot of young adults who loved the books but I don’t have the time to read them so I rely on moving pictures instead… I got bored in the first one but I have seen the trailer of the second installment and from the looks of it it has built an excitement and momentum… so I guess the 2nd would be much more fun and entertaining especially with the actions scenes and all and won’t be bad… crossing my fingers…

The Past Movies… so far…

I don’t care what the critics were saying about this movie, though it has a few weak points…I still liked it… I do want to have a continuation of it but only if they make it into animated cgi so that cost would be not that astronomical….
