The sequel was announced in May 2012, after the successful release of The Avengers. Whedon, the director of the first film, was brought back on board in August and a release date was set. By April 2013, Whedon had completed a draft of the script, and casting began in June with the re-signing of Downey. Second unit filming began in February 2014 in South Africa with principal photography beginning in March. The film was primarily shot at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England, with additional footage filmed in Italy, South Korea, and various locations around England.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled for release on May 1, 2015 in North America, in 2D and IMAX 3D.

Premise

With S.H.I.E.L.D. destroyed and the Avengers needing a break from stopping threats, Tony Stark creates Ultron, a self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence, who can assess threats and control Stark’s Iron Legion. However, things quickly go awry when Ultron decides that humans are the main enemy and sets out to eradicate them from Earth.

Cast

The co-leader and benefactor of the Avengers, who is a self-described genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist with electromechanical suits of armor of his own invention.
The crown prince of Asgard, based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name.
A genius scientist who, because of exposure to gamma radiation, transforms into a monster when enraged or agitated. Ruffalo worked with motion capture performer Andy SerkisThe Imaginarium Studios in preparation for the role. Ruffalo added, “[My role’s] even bigger than last time, and it’s more complex and it has more layers and a bit more arc. Not only that, but it seems that the motion capture process is becoming a whole lot more agreeable second time around. I’m really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff… now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers.” Describing the relationship between Banner and Hulk in the film, Ruffalo said, “I think there’s a whole relationship with Banner and Hulk that needs to be discovered. There’s a very cool thing happening: Hulk is as afraid of Banner as Banner is afraid of Hulk.” Ruffalo added, “Both of these guys are obviously the same guy, and they have got to come to peace somehow with each other. And I think that this confrontation is building along the lines of this film.”
The co-leader of the Avengers, who is a World War II veteran enhanced to the peak of human physicality by an experimental serum and frozen in suspended animation before waking up in the modern world. Evans said that he was able to maintain the strength he built up for Captain America: The Winter Soldier by working out up to an hour a day. Evans said, “…you pull the plug about two to three weeks before you wrap. When you see the finish line coming, you are so glad to not have to think about the gym. But we are starting Avengers 2, so over the past month, I have been hitting it pretty hard.”
A highly trained spy, formerly of S.H.I.E.L.D. Producer Kevin Feige stated that more of the character’s backstory is explored in the film. Johansson elaborated, “In Avengers 2 we go back… we definitely learn more about Widow’s backstory, and we get to find out how she became the person you see. All of these characters have deep, dark pasts, and I think that the past catches up to some of us a little bit.” On where the film picks up Widow’s story, Johansson said, “At this stage, when you see the Widow, she’s — especially in Avengers, these characters all have a past, and hers [sic] is a very complex one, where she’s realizing — and it’s kind of a continuation of Cap 2 — ‘I’ve never made an active choice. I’m a product of other people’s imposition.’ That’s going to catch up with her. That’s bound to have a huge effect. There’s got to be a result of that realization… You’ll see her actively making some choices in her life, for better or worse.” A mixture of close-ups, concealing costumes, stunt doubles and visual effects were used to help hide Johansson’s pregnancy during filming.
A master archer who worked as an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. in previous films. Whedon said that Hawkeye would interact more with the other characters in the film, as opposed to the first film where the character had been “possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly.”
The former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. who originally recruited the Avengers. Jackson described the role as a cameo, saying, “I’m just kind of passing by… Because, it’s another one of those ‘people who have powers fighting people who have powers’. That’s why I didn’t get to New York in The Avengers. There’s not a lot I could do except shoot a gun.”
The twin brother of the Scarlet Witch, who can move at superhuman speed. About the character Taylor-Johnson said, “Him [sic] and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other… His sister really is his guidance – emotionally she’s the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He’s very overprotective physically – he doesn’t want anyone touching her.” Taylor-Johnson also said that Quicksilver has “real anger frustration” and is easily bored due to a short attention span. Feige stated exploring Quicksilver’s relationship with his sister and his backstory growing up in Eastern Europe would help differentiate the character from Evan Peters‘ version in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
The twin sister of Quicksilver, who can harness magic and engage in hypnosis and telekinesis. Olsen said, “The reason she’s so special is because she has such a vast amount of knowledge that she’s unable to learn how to control it. No one taught her how to control it properly. So it gets the best of her. It’s not that she’s mentally insane, it’s just that she’s just overly stimulated. And she can connect to this world and parallel worlds at the same time, and parallel times.” Olsen drew on her relationship with her older brother and her twin sisters to prepare for the role.
An artificial intelligence programmed with elements of Tony Stark’s personality, who is overwhelmed with a god complex and longs to bring peace to Earth by eradicating humanity. Director Joss Whedon stated that Spader was his “first and only choice” for the role, because of his “hypnotic voice that can be eerily calm and compelling” while also being very human and humorous. Feige clarified, “We’ll be capturing his face and his body to create a whole performance… We did not hire James Spader to do a robot voice.” Extensive scans were taken of Spader’s head and body in preparation for the role. About the character Whedon said, “He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff.” Whedon added that Ultron is “not a creature of logic – he’s a robot who’s genuinely disturbed. We’re finding out what makes him menacing and at the same time endearing and funny and strange and unexpected, and everything a robot never is.” Whedon also indicated that some of Ultron’s abilities from the comics would be stripped.

Additionally, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Hayley Atwell, Thomas Kretschmann, and Josh Brolin reprise their roles from previous MCU films as Maria Hill, Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Peggy Carter, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, and Thanos, respectively. Paul Bettany, who voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. in previous films, plays the Vision, and Claudia Kim was cast as a doctor/scientist and friend of Tony Stark. Andy Serkis is playing an undisclosed role in the film. Avengers co-creator Stan Lee will make a cameo appearance.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST 2014

Having this viral site http://www.trask-industries.com for the upcoming movie is a brilliant move by the people behind the X-Men franchise. At least there’s a filler for the void while waiting for the movie to be shown on May of 2014. They should have at least put more promotional gimmickry out there and to post more posters in the succeeding months for the people anticipating the movie such as myself so as not to lose the interests but rather build it up until the movie is released. I must say that it’s a great site because the people are being introduced to the Sentinels and what Trask Industry’s involvement on it. Great job incorporating the little snippet of  Trask Industry at the mid credit scene on the movie “The Wolverine”.  I am very much excited for this upcoming movie…

About the film:

X-Men: Days of Future Past is an upcoming American superhero film co-written, produced and directed by Bryan Singer and featuring the X-Men characters appearing in Marvel Comics. It is intended to be the seventh installment in the X-Men film series. The screenplay is written by Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn, and Jane Goldman, with Singer writing the story. The film is based on the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline “Days of Future Past” by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. It is the third X-Men film directed by Singer after 2000’s X-Men and 2003’s X2.

Days of Future Past acts as a sequel to both 2011’s X-Men: First Class and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand

xmenfirstclassbg x_men_three_ver1

Featuring cast members from both movies and stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Daniel Cudmore return from the X-Men: The Last Stand, while James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till return from X-Men: First Class. Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Adan Canto, Evan Peters and Josh Helman round out the film’s principal cast. Principal photography began in April 2013 in Montreal, Canada. The film is being shot in 3D.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to be released on May 23, 2014.

Based from the comic book with the same title, “Days of Future Past” is a popular storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142, published in 1981. It deals with a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An adult Kate Pryde transfers her mind into her younger self, the present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.

The storyline was very popular at the time and was produced during the franchise‘s rapid rise to popularity due to the writer/artist team of Chris Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin. As a result of the storyline’s popularity, the dark future seen in the story has been revisited numerous times. The first issue of this storyline was voted the 25th greatest Marvel Comic of all time by fans in 2001.

But in this adaptation, it’s not Kitty Pryde who went back to the past but Wolverine… probably just to fix the timeline since Kitty Pryde is not born yet then at that time. So it’s more realistic to put Wolverine in that scenario since he hasn’t aged rapidly.

X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

This reality in which the story occurs is designated Earth-811 in the Marvel Multiverse.

PLOT:

The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future. (The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe: Alternate Universes 2005 gave the numerical designation of “Days of Future Past” Earth as Earth-811).

Aftermath

Rachel Summers, who was a key player in the original storyline, traveled through time from this alternative future, Earth-811, to the present day and joined the X-Men. Nimrod, the “ultimate Sentinel,” followed her to the present and became a foe of the X-Men and the Hellfire Club. Another supervillain, Ahab, later followed her to the present in the Days of Future Present crossover.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,  is an upcoming American television series created for ABC by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division). The series is produced by Marvel Television, and is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing continuity with the films in that franchise. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D revolves around the character of Phil Coulson, with Clark Gregg reprising the role. A pilot, written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, and directed by Joss Whedon, was given the green light in late 2012 and filmed in early 2013. The series was officially ordered on May 10, 2013 and is scheduled to premiere on September 24, 2013 on ABC Channel.

Agent Phil Coulson puts together a small team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to handle strange new cases.  Each case will test the team in cooperation and ingenuity as they try to work together figuring out newly emerging superhuman individuals in the world.

At the 2013 South by Southwest festival, Joss Whedon confirmed that Coulson is alive in the series, despite his apparent death at the hands of Loki in Marvel’s The Avengers. When describing his character’s return from the dead, Gregg said, “When Joss described to me the mystery…and the complexity and the unanswered questions about Phil Coulson standing there trying to deal with this, I found it so fascinating and so true to the world of the comics and mythology in general as I understand them that I was immediately in.”

MAIN CAST/CHARACTERS:

  • AgentsOfShield (2) Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson: An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who oversees many of the division’s field operations. The character will headline the series.

Ward has a strong moral foundation and is not without his charm.
  • AgentsOfShield (5) Chloe Bennet as Skye: A civilian new recruit and computer hacker, described as “bubbly and goofy” but “also warm, edgy and witty.” She is in her late 20s and can more than hold her own in any situation. Skye is obsessed with superheroes.

Plot:

One year after the events of The AvengersThor battles to save the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. A primeval race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Cast:

Thor Thor 1

Chris Hemsworth as Thor: The crown prince of Asgard, based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name. Hemsworth stated that the film addresses unresolved issues regarding Thor’s relationships from previous films, “For Thor and Jane, there are some unanswered questions now, since obviously he didn’t stop in and catch up with her in The Avengers. Thor might have some explaining to do in this one. And with Loki, we get down to the major bones of our conflict with everything that’s come from Thor to Avengers to now.”

Thor Jane 2

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster: An astrophysicist and Thor’s love interest, who is brought from Earth to Asgard by Thor for safeguarding when her life is in danger. Producer Kevin Feige said, “While Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films (Thor and The Avengers), this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard.”

Thor Loki 3

Tom Hiddleston as Loki: Thor’s adoptive brother and nemesis, based on the deity of the same name, who Thor seeks for assistance against the Dark Elves. On where he wishes to take the character in the film, Hiddleston said, “I’d like to take [Loki] to his absolute rock bottom. I’d like to see him yield, essentially, to his darkest instincts. Then, having hit rock bottom, maybe come back up. I think the fascination for me about playing Loki is that, in the history of the mythology and the comic books and the Scandinavian myths, is he’s constantly dancing on this fault line of the dark side and redemption.”

Thor Erik 4

Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Erik Selvig: Foster’s mentor and fellow scientist.

Thor Heimdall 5

Idris Elba as Heimdall: The all-seeing, all-hearing Asgardian sentry of the bifröst bridge, based on the mythological deity of the same name. Elba said he has a larger role in the sequel, “In the new film we’re going to get to know Heimdall the Asgardian a bit better, and we’re going to get to know Asgard a bit better. I can’t say too much, but the expansion of Thor in his world is going to be huge. My part was very small and functional in the first film”.

Thor Malekith 6

Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed: The ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.

Thor Algrim Kurse 7

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Algrim the Strong / Kurse: A Dark Elf, who is coerced by Malekith to fight Thor. Akinnuoye-Agbaje described Kurse as “an amalgamation of a bull and a lava-like creature. He has very animalistic tendencies but with this insatiable and unstoppable power. As an actor, that’s one of the hardest things to embody. You have to realize you are probably the most powerful thing you could imagine. And you have to be that. You can’t pretend, so that when you face Thor, it’s real.” Akinnuoye-Agbaje stated the role required three hours of make-up a day and had to put on heavy duty prosthetics explaining, “The outfit weighed about 40 pounds. I’m sure there will be a certain amount of CGI but a good 80% was me in that suit.”

Thor Darcy 8

Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis: Foster’s research assistant. Her role in the film was expanded from the comic relief sidekick role she played in the first Thor film.

Thor Volstagg 9

Ray Stevenson as Volstagg: A member of the Warriors Three; a group of three Asgardian adventurers who are among Thor’s closest comrades. Known for both his hearty appetite and wide girth his role in this film, Stevenson said, “Volstagg is struggling, he has a brood, they [the Warriors Three] are fighting for Earth and home as much as for the idea of Asgard itself. That’s where he has trouble explaining, “He’s all too aware of how potentially threatening this new enemy is on both the home front and the battlefield.”

Thor Fandral 10

Zachary Levi as Fandral: A member of the Warriors Three, characterized as an irrepressible swashbuckler and romantic. Levi replaced Joshua Dallas in the role due to his commitment on Once Upon a Time. Ironically, Levi was originally up for the role in the first film but had to bow out due to his commitment on Chuck. Levi compared the character to Flynn Rider, the character he played in the animated feature, Tangled, “Fandral is a little similar to Rider in some ways… He’s like this lothario. He’s like Errol Flynn. He loves ladies, as do I”.

Thor Hogun 11

Tadanobu Asano as Hogun: A member of the Warriors Three, primarily identified by his grim demeanor.

Thor Sif 12

Jaimie Alexander as Sif: An Asgardian warrior, Thor’s childhood friend and Jane Foster’s romantic rival, based on the deity of the same name. Alexander said there is more character development for Sif and the film explores the Sif-Thor relationship. Alexander suffered a severe back injury while on the set. About the injury, she said, “It was raining, it was dark outside, it was like 5 in the morning — and I went down a metal staircase and slipped and slipped a disc in my thoracic spine and chipped 11 of my vertebrae. I knocked my left shoulder out of place and tore my rhomboid on my right side… It took me out of filming for a month”.

Thor Frigga 13

Rene Russo as Frigga: The wife of Odin, queen of Asgard, stepmother of Thor and adoptive mother of Loki, based on the mythological deity of the same name. Russo said that her role was expanded and explores Frigga’s relationship with Loki, “You know, they cut me down in the first film. Kenneth Branagh sent me a nice note, because he understood, he’s an actor. You move on, what are you going to do? But I think they’re going to need a good mom in the next film. Loki needs his mom. I have a lot of compassion for Loki. But we might have to have a conversation about what he just did”.

Thor Odin 14

Anthony Hopkins as Odin: The king of Asgard, father of Thor, and adoptive father of Loki, based on the deity of the same name, who disapproves of Thor’s relationship with Jane Foster.

Guardians of the Galaxy….

New-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Movie-Logo MGOG1

Another movie to anticipate… Guardians of Galaxy… Well I haven’t read any comic books of this superhero group, but from the looks of it, I think it’s exciting. From the casting itself, it’s looks promising. Hoping that it wouldn’t deviate from the source material because if not then I guess it spells doom… but to adapt it into a movie it’s inevitable that there might be deviations of some sort, all they need to do is just minimize it and it will still be true and honest.

Filming began in July 2013 at Shepperton Studios in England. The film is scheduled to be released on August 1, 2014, and will be released in 3D.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July 2013, Kevin Feige stated that Thanos would be a part of the film as the “mastermind”.
