Season 3 begins this fall on ABC Channel
Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) comes to the Hamptons, renting a home next to the Grayson family to enjoy the summer. However, it is revealed that Emily has been to the Hamptons before, as a little girl. In reality, Emily is Amanda Clarke, whose father was framed for a crime he did not commit and sent to prison for life, and later murdered in the prison. She was permanently separated from him when she was a little girl and never saw him again. Now, she has returned to the Hamptons, intent on getting revenge on those who wronged her and her father. At the top of her list is Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), matriarch of the Grayson family and the woman whom her father loved and who, in the end, betrayed him. Emily wants to get revenge on all the people who had a part in destroying her childhood and worked with the Grayson family to wrongfully convict her father.
As she sets her plan in motion, Emily tries to navigate the upper society to destroy those who betrayed her father. But the further she goes, the more her emotions get involved and the more she questions her motives and the moves she makes.
Emily having discovered her mother is alive, postpones her revenge plan and sets on a journey to find her mother. Digging into her past, traumatic memories from her childhood resurfaces, and she discovers the Graysons’ involvement with her mother’s disappearance. Her search leads her to discover that her mother, now known as Kara Clarke-Murphy, was married to the mysterious white-haired man who killed her father, Gordon Murphy.
The Graysons faced a turmoil after numerous events: Victoria faked her death and is now living in hiding, Charlotte had overcome her addiction but is entrapped in rehab by Conrad, and Daniel became the CEO of Grayson Global, and is soon posed against the mysterious organization known as the American Initiative.
The Porters rejoiced Jack’s newborn son Carl, but the dangerous past of their father and Declan’s rebellious behavior lead them to troubled lengths. Amanda is publicly accepted as a part of the Graysons but still hides her demons from Jack. The secretive Ryan brothers buy the Stowaway to free Declan from theft charges; however, more deeply rooted motivations are revealed to be ruling their decision.
Social climber Ashley Davenport takes over Victoria’s spot as the Queen of the Hamptons, but is soon stripped of her position; and, she later formulates her own revenge plan. Nolan becomes attracted by the clever Padma Lahari, whom he appoints as CFO at his company; but, Lahari has a secret agenda of her own. Finally, a man from Emily’s past, Aiden Mathis, re-enters her life and becomes a playing card in her revenge plan.
SEASON 2 – FINALE –
After the blast, Emily rushes into the Grayson Global building to save Jack; she sees a man lying on the ground, but is rushed out by firefighters before she can see who it is. It is confirmed not to be Jack.. as across town, he showed up at NolCorp and asked Nolan how he knew about the bomb. Conrad takes the lead in rescue efforts, making him look good in front of the cameras. It is revealed that Declan was the one injured in the blast, and is now in hospital. Emily and Jack, who agrees to pretend to be dead for the time being, sneaks into hospital in a stolen uniform without being noticed, and speaks with his brother – Declan insists he is fine, although he will need heart surgery, so he cannot leave. Declan also tells Jack that Charlotte is pregnant with his baby. Nolan visits Declan also, and remains while he has surgery. Jack comes back to find Nolan sitting in Declan’s room with an empty bed. He showed Jack a video Declan made of Declan saying goodbye – Declan, Jack’s brother and a true ally of Emily, died. Aiden, knowing he will be held responsible for the Manhattan blackout, flees New York, but the media reports Aiden, now a terrorist suspect, was captured by the FBI attempting to cross the border to Canada. Later, all charges are dropped and Aiden is released, with federal authorities going after Nolan instead. Nolan suffers the exact same fate as David Clarke – he is arrested by the FBI, who stormed his office on charges of treason against the United States, the feds aren’t believing his claims of innocence because of his recorded friendship with Clarke, he learns the Falcon has denied everything and claimed he was behind the blackout, and finally a video is shown of deceased Padma Lahari; Padma, clearly forced to speak by the Initiative, declared Nolan is the “blind disciple” of David Clarke, and her lover was and is an anarchist and genius believing his judgment should affect the world. She finished by stating “Nolan is American Initiative” (or a terrorist mastermind like Clarke). Nolan realized he has been blamed for the Initiative’s actions, and that was their plan from the start. Daniel and Victoria both individually turn on Conrad; the former when he finds out the bomb was all Conrad’s doing, and the latter when she learns there is no “Initiative”, and in fact he was the mastermind behind everything (from Flight 197, to David Clarke’s downfall and assassination, the threats to Daniel and finally the bombing of his own company); and became a full member of a private group of businesspeople who profited from these attacks, all for the sake of his own fortunes and family. The heartbreaking death of his brother leaves Jack frantic and testing his own sanity; deciding he has nothing left to lose now, he goes to Grayson Manor and steals a gun. Running into Victoria, he threatens her with it, knowing she betrayed him. He decided, instead, that it is a worse punishment to make her live with all the guilt she has. Charlotte returns to recover from the bombing, and Victoria comforts her – deciding against telling her about Declan’s death for the time being. Jack goes to Conrad’s speech, with it now official that he won the election and he is the Governor-Elect of New York State. Emily rushes to find Jack before he is about to kill Conrad. Daniel shows up at Emily’s house where he finds Aiden. The two men fight and Aiden defeats his former boss; finishing by crashing him into Emily’s desk. Aiden says he’s giving Daniel a pass to live, and tells Daniel to let Emily go. Daniel, lying on the floor and overcome with rage, notices he has landed within a foot of Emily’s gun, which had spilled onto the floor with him. Daniel comes to the Conrad’s speech and he has blood on his shirt sleeve (suggesting that he killed Aiden with Emily’s gun – Aiden is not seen again afterwards). Victoria, alone with her guilt, is sitting at home watching Conrad’s victory speech, when her door bell rings. She goes to answer it and it is Patrick. Emily locates Jack. She rushes up the stairs to where he has the gun pointed at Conrad, who makes a point of praising Declan in his speech; using it as capital for his popularity, while Jack is officially still missing. Emily says that he can’t do this, Jack says that this has nothing to do with her. She proclaims that it has everything to do with her. Emily, forced to evaluate her quest for revenge after so many heartbreaking deaths, steps in front of the gun and says that she should have left him out of “all this” (her revenge). She then begs Jack to really look at her and announces to him that she is Amanda Clarke.
